GREAT AMERICAN NIGHTMARE NEWS AND NOTES
News Story
It’s a post-July 4th News and Notes, so grab some Gatorade and Tylenol to nurse that hangover and get to reading…
-
- Lindsay Troy is said to have been “very pleased” with how the Great American Nightmare went, both in terms of roster performance and reception from the fans and media. During the post-event media scrum, she had this to say: “Obviously there were nerves during Culture Shock…first supershow back after a ten year lay-off, concluding the Almasy Invitational, wondering how the reception was going to be. I’d say that was a success, and GAN has built on that. I think we’re starting to fire on all cylinders now, and having all our champions crowned is going to play a big part in keeping this thing going. Everyone here is hungry and wants to prove themselves. I can’t ask for anything better.”
-
- The Alexander Redding Contract Saga has concluded with no long-term contract being offered to either the Willing Villain or his manager, Grady Patrick, and their per-match contracts were terminated.
-
- We have reports of two talent hires following the conclusion of Great American Nightmare, one of whom will be familiar to long-time fans of the sport. Mitchell Quinlan, who previously spent time in PRIME, SCCW, and the UTA, has been signed to a short-term contract with the possibility to extend and will face “The Carpathian Devil” Julian Bathory on ReVival 11. Buster Gloves, an ex-MMA fighter, is a fresh face to PRIME and will debut in the coming weeks.
-
- Tony Gamble was let out of the broom closet following the conclusion of the tag team title match and was handed a contract to review and sign in advance of his match against “Magnum” Pete Whealdon and Larry Tact on ReVival 11. Details on the terms have not been disclosed, however an anonymous source close to Chief Financial Officer, Lisa Tyler, suggested that Gamble will be paid less than other Hall of Famers on the PRIME roster due to his past association with Devin Shakur.
For those unfamiliar with Shakur, he is a former Universal and Intense champion. He was also was in charge of PRIME during some of the darkest days in the company’s history between January 2010 until late July 2011. Shakur has not been seen or heard from since the final show of PRIME’s original run, Colossus VIII, where he received a shit-kicking from multiple roster members before being thrown out the door. We here at PRIME hope to never see him again.
-
- According to PRIME officials, Nathan Filmix has gone off the grid. The speculation is that he has returned to the Kabal Proving Grounds to try and “get out,” however his silence is concerning to those in the front office. So far, all attempts to contact both him and his Coach, Nelson Hark, have been unsuccessful.
-
- Fresh off winning the Intense Championship, The Anglo Luchador is seemingly back to normal. He has told Angelica Brooks that he will appear on ReVival 11 to, and this is a quote, “address his enemies.”
-
- After the surprising victory of the Winds of Change at Great American Nightmare, reporters were quick to ask the team about the debut of the Exploding Cyclone Homicide Driver. Sid Phillips stared at the reporter for a long moment before he denied ever doing such a thing and dismissed the entire thing as a mass hallucination brought upon by one powerbomb too many.
Joe Fontaine was said to be ecstatic for the victory… until he found out who won the main event. Then he shook, breaking out into a cold sweat, muttering “no, no, no…” He refused any other questions from reporters.
-
- Dirk Dickwood was reported to have ran off to the bathroom shortly after the conclusion of the Atken/Dusk match. We have heard report he was in there for 13 solid minutes but have not gotten primary confirmation on the matter.
-
- With the match between Cancer Jiles and Julian Bathory going to a time limit draw, it’s being reported that both men will compete for the Universal Title at UltraViolence against either the current champion, Brandon Youngblood, or his challenger at ReVival 13, Phil Atken.
-
- Following his entirely unexpected victory in the number one contendership match for the Five Star Championship, newcomer GREAT SCOTT has submitted official paperwork to PRIME for a new manager that will guide his career going forward. The manager, who has officially obtained a manager’s license with the Nevada Athletic Commission, is Morty the Mortician.
-
- Fighting For Nora were visibly disappointed after their loss to Tag Team Champions Blue Live Crew, but Jonathan Rhine was gracious in defeat, saying that King Blueberry and Justine Calvin were “incredible.” In slightly related news, Chet Fleetwood, the man romantically linked to Shweta Kallemullah, has threatened to sue Lindsay Troy and Wade Elliott for “being a bunch a violent jackasses” but legal experts close to the company do not think the company is in danger: “Good luck finding a lawyer that can stand being in the same room with that guy.”
-
- Shortly following his victory in the bout for Five Star Title, Rezin disappeared from the arena along with the belt. He has not been seen anywhere in the Las Vegas area since, and PRIME personnel’s efforts to reach the Goat Bastard have proven to be useless.
When questioned by members of the media, Ollie Arsvinnar, his long-time acquaintance and financial consultant, said to reporters: “I don’t really know, but honestly, I’m just happy to be getting a break from him. I mean, aren’t you?”
-
- Kenny Freeman took to social media after Great American Nightmare, grateful to fans for their support as he and Randall Schwartz managed to very clearly not lose their match at the PPV event. This, of course, was met with reactions ranging from, “You didn’t win, either” to “I don’t remember them announcing your name, who are you again?”
-
- Praise has been pouring in from all over the wrestling world for the Great American Nightmare. Fans, critics, and even the industry outside of the company have been raving about the show, and especially the main event. The Tag Title Match between Fighting For Nora and the Kings of Popsicles received a small mountain of praise, but none quite so fitting as the official statements from Charles Beckett and David McBride, known to wrestling fans as Crash & Burn, one of the most decorated tag teams in the history of the sport.
McBride: “That main event. Oh my God. I don’t have to tell you how important tag team wrestling is to me, and to see it on display that night…I don’t even have the words. The passion, heart, and skill that were shown, with Ray and Raspberry thrust into the spotlight, and Rhine and Sykes and THEIR history…those four elevated the sport that night. Hands down, one of the absolute best tag matches I’ve ever seen.”
Beckett: “I was like, dude. Then I was like, dude! Then I was like, DUDE.” (This continued for several minutes.)
Both men also said they hope this will lead to even more renewed interest in the art of tag team wrestling. Charles Beckett mentioned that they had received an influx of ticket requests for the Milo Flynn Cup, a charity tag team tournament held every August in Minneapolis. Beckett is one of the co-founders, and has been part of the board since its inception in 2013.
-
- MGM is currently in discussions on renewing licensing agreements for ACE Network content. Melvin Beauregard is leading negotiations with distributors. PRIME’s agreement with ACE runs long term through 2023.
Negotiations have started with the MGM on renewing PRIME’s residency at the MGM Grand. Lindsay Troy is leading the charge for PRIME in negotiations. Live event revenue is much higher than initial projections for both parties, and negotiations seem to be headed in the right direction.

- GREAT BEAR will be laying down his sick EDM beats from 2-4 at the pool on Friday July 15th, just hours before ReVival 11.
