The 2022 Belmont Classic is only a month away, which means it’s time to reveal the names selected for this year’s event! Every year, 32 of the most promising rookies from all over North America–and indeed, the world–make their way to St. Louis to prove themselves. This year will be no different, as promising students from twenty-six different trainers and wrestling schools, as well as several self-taught performers, are part of the field. One might notice that this is only 31 entrants, not the full 32. The final participant is still the matter of fierce debate among the selection committee. While we do not know the names being considered, a source has told us that the arguments have become so heated that one of the committee members, Amanda Wallenquist-Robinson, has resigned from her position.
Amanda is one of the foremost trainers on the West Coast, having taken over the Santa Monica-based facility from her father-in-law, the late Matt “Meat Hook” Robinson. She has stated that while she is severing her ties to the Belmont Foundation, she will not ask her student not to participate. “Ivory earned her shot, and so did some of my other kids. They deserve to be in the tournament, not like…I’m sorry. That’s all I can say.”
Best of luck to all competitors, and may the best wrestler win!
