The scene: chaotic weekendday noises flowing through an open window. Curtains flutter, cool air circulates and tranquility fosters in the magisterial penthouse. Inside the bedroom, burgundy walls accentuate modern deco art paintings and luxurious winter white carpet. Fine oak night tables flank the king size bed. Déjà vu?
The woman: thin, short, dainty in a silver silk nightgown. She has blonde hair and bushy eyebrows which are typically unkempt and many of the hairs pop through her jewel encrusted eye mask. Does she require microshading? Her man would tell her otherwise. Regardless, she takes up the majority of blankets, they are tightly wrapped around her fragile frame. 95% of the blankets. Wait… she just took 100%. Déjà vu.
The man: wavy Ken-doll brown hair, face chiseled out of stone. His clean shaven jaw, his cold blue eyes, looking like he was pulled from an Abercrombie & Fitch poster. Topless, his chest hairs erect and sweat beads accumulate. He lays on his back, staring into the abyss. He has been here before. He is definitely feeling déjà vu.
“Honey, honey eh- eh, honey-” the woman suddenly begins nudging her man on the arm, as if she expects him to speak. Soon, she completely gives in. “Aren’t you supposed to talk right now?”
Even though he isn’t (supposed to be the first one to speak), the James Marsden doppelganger lays in a fright for what circumstances are in front of them. He doesn’t say a word, until he’s nudged again so the man pensively turns his head. He knew she wouldn’t look happy and seeing her anxiety-riddled response has led to an even further rush of nervousness.
“Sorry. So sorry,” he lets out a murmur, trying to collect his surroundings and the important masculinity she demands. “I know you need me to communicate from a strong, iron-willed perspective. I have failed to do so.”
“Oh, divine Jonathan-Christopher,” she tries to reassure but, eventually, she can’t hold back. She has to communicate her feelings or else they will internalize into additional problems. “As you know, I am looking for a yearning connection and sometimes, when you are unable to provide this, my mind begins to wonder…”
She moves in closer and grasps him with both arms. “But don’t worry, all I have to do is look into your unsure eyes and know… yes, you need me. You absolutely need me!”
“Baby I need you so much,” his response is instantaneous.
She doesn’t smile or register a reply. Her man’s comment goes without saying because, of course, it is a key reason why they are together. They need each other. Period.
“Jonathan-Christopher, the love of my life,” the woman shifts focus in their conversation. “I’ve been told this week, you will have your first PRIME match.”
Her words seem forced, as if she knows there’s a different reality than the one she speaks and yet she has to believe what she’s saying. Has she convinced herself so far? Should she convince herself further? Only the Pretty Pink girl knows.
Jonathan-Christopher breaks her contemplation, nodding profusely. “I know,” his voice trails, he looks into her eyes. He’s lost in them. He can feel his insides tightening. She means everything to him and to see her in this state, rattled, perhaps unconfident… it’s something they haven’t experienced.
“Vickie,” The man continues, his gaze wanders to every aspect of her body. “I will do whatever it takes for us to become World Champion.”
She slights her head methodically, as if expecting this answer. “Good man,” She releases her hold, wiggling into the fetal position. Obviously, she’s feeling more secure. “Because we have to retrace our steps for the very first time. This is paramount.”
Jonathan-Christopher agrees, Vickie continues.
“I have seen PRIME from a distance, for two months now. I have seen the way things operate… and I- I don’t like them. We are a breath of fresh air, something borrowed, something new. A unique story and original genre. It’s time to show the world our love for each other, Jonathan-Christopher.”
The Forever Man agrees by keeping quiet.
“The wrestling business is a cold and miserable drama. Friends turn on friends easily, relationships of every nature crumble,” Vickie speaks with confidence, she is precise in these words. Next, she speaks with conviction and a strong sense of righteousness. “We are pure. We are true. We are everything wrestling is not.”
Vickie lifts her right arm and starts stroking Jonathan-Christopher’s hair.
“Rest now, my Ferocious Tiger. Tomorrow we have a big day at the headquarters. We will sign our Forever Contracts…”
Vickie’s hand lowers from his hair, her eyelids closing. She is peaceful.
He, however, is not.
Jonathan-Christopher barely blinks. He fixates on the ceiling, this one set location on the roof. It’s a spot he feels like he’s looked at before but no- no he won’t let his mind go there. This is their first night in the MGM Grand.
This is the beginning of their Hallmark Journey.
Without further question.

PRIME Headquarters

14:00
A haunting chill runs down Jonathan-Christopher’s spine as he and Vickie wait in an office boardroom. Vickie is quick on the backrub, almost like she’s telepathically linked to her man’s needs, or, somehow, someway, they’ve been through this exact scenario. Even though they haven’t. Clearly. Who would assume such a thing?
The California native can’t help but scan the promotional material from years past around the walls and with each pay-per-view image he sees, his legs shake a little more and he takes shallower breaths. The thought of being good enough for… any of this. To be on a promotional poster? It’s a tall task, an impossible task. Nevertheless, they have their path mapped out and it ends with himself, Jonathan-Christopher, as World Champion.
Two men in suits enter the room, mercifully breaking The Forever Man’s train of thought. Both are around the same size, 5’10”, one with blonde hair, the other with brown. Upon seeing the couple, the business men look puzzled.
“JC? Vickie?” The blonde haired representative asks.
Vickie is quick on the rebuttal. “Please call him by his full name, Jonathan-Christopher. And my name is Vickie.”
The man pauses, raises an eyebrow and says the word “riiight.”
The second individual is also apprehensive. “What can we do for you guys?”
Jonathan-Christopher shakes his head. It’s time he took charge. It’s an easy thing to do when he knows she’s triggered. “We are not ‘you guys’. This is Vickie, my adoring spouse but we prefer the term ALP – Amazing Life Partner.”
It’s all Jonathan-Christopher has to give. He’s rattled after standing up to the comment, although it was essential he stood up. Vickie nestles into her man’s chest and places a hand on his cheek. She begins caressing his jawline up and down to soothe him. The two kiss softly. Throughout this kerfuffle, the agents are trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
“Soooo, what brings you gu- ALPs here?” The blonde haired man catches himself before saying ‘guys’ again, avoiding a catastrophe. “We thought you were leaving PRIME?”
Vickie twirls her hair and laughs uncomfortably. “Oh, teehee, however could we leave when we are here to join PRIME for the first time?”
Pretty Pink’s eyes bulge upon saying the final four words, as if nudging the men in front of her towards an understanding. The reps aren’t stupid. They have caught on, albeit slightly.
“Okaaay,” the blonde haired man begins. “Well my name is Calvin and this is my associate, Devin.”
“Nice to meet both of you,” Vickie says with a playful grin and tilt of her head. “Are you here to offer us… Forever Contracts?”
Calvin nudges Devin.
“I believe this can be arranged,” Devin adds. “I’m sorry, we were under the impression you two were not signing with PRIME.”
Vickie’s face crinkles together. “Where would you hear such a thing?”
Her tone changes, as if blaming the men in front of her for recalling a real report made by Matt Mills earlier in the week. Regardless, the PRIME staffers ignore Vickie’s attempt at a passive-aggressive remark.
“So the reality of the situation is we were ready to offer both of you a contract. Jonathan-Christopher as talent and Vickie as valet, which was my initial understanding of your requests,” Calvin chimes in, knowing the duo were only signed throughout their tenure in the Almasy Invitational, so he’s able to navigate the situation at hand. “Neither of us were anticipating you coming by today… or at all… but I can get a standard contract prepared if you remain interested.”
Calvin is about to leave the boardroom but Devin adds more. He sees the look on Vickie’s face, which conveys a sense of vanity. She has received what she’s wanted out of the interaction and is content. However, Jonathan-Christopher is much more apprehensive. His hands are clenched together and he remains unsteady in his chair.
“The two of you have received some terrific feedback from our audience-” Devin is merely trying to be polite but these words quickly send Vickie’s facial expressions into a hurricane. She can’t compute what Devin is saying so Jonathan-Christopher bursts from his chair, grabs Devin and starts shaking him.
“Mr. Sirrajin sends his regards!!… ALP, aLp… ideas woman… iDeAs wOmAn!!!… baby… BaBy… aaAaaAAhHHhHHHh… we are BRAND NEW TO PRIME!!!”
Jonathan-Christopher’s grip is Tupperware tight across Devin’s shoulders, wringing him for all he’s worth. Anxiety seeps from every inch of The Forever Man. His eyes bloodshot, his teeth chattering. The thought of failing their first match, before it even starts. They cannot sidetrack this narrative. It is vital everybody, not just Jonathan-Christopher and Vickie, understand this is the beginning of their PRIME love story. The Hall’s have never received feedback because, of course, they have never appeared on television.
“I- I- I’m sorry, you’re right…” Devin finally replies, snapping out of his own deer in the headlights look. Jonathan-Christopher slowly releases Devin from his clutches and looks back at Vickie with a “what did I do?” type of expression. Meanwhile, Devin continues with caution when speaking each word. “We have seen your work on the independent scene, Jonathan-Christopher. And it is strictly from the independent scene where we want to offer you and Vickie a PRIME contract.”
Vickie is calm. Perhaps seeing her man stand up for their love puts her mind to rest. She smirks and raises her bushy eyebrows. “Great. Wonderful. Do get those contracts, we’ll be happy to sign them.”
Devin certainly can’t wait to get the hell out of the boardroom and neither can Calvin.
“Will I be wrestling this weekend?” A clearly shattered Jonathan-Christopher is barely able to speak upon returning to his ALP.
“Yes, you’ll be placed in a match,” Devin responds, knowing Jonathan-Christopher has already been booked in a four-man scramble for an opportunity at the 5-Star Title. The schedule was made prior to the Hall’s denouncing their journey… only to renounce it… only to question the validity of denouncing it- you know what? Devin and Calvin are done with this.
Jonathan-Christopher nods, although another massive spell of anxiety is about to take over. The Vow of Virtue finds none other than Brandon Youngblood on one of the promotional images pasted to the boardroom wall. Instantly, his heart skips a beat, his hands become tense. Fear cripples his movements. All he can do is open his mouth. He can’t help it.
“Am I… am I going to face… HIM?” Jonathan-Christopher points to the picture of Youngblood.
Devin and Calvin don’t dare say the wrong thing. Again, they simply want to get out of there.
“Umm, no, no no no. We’ll get you in touch with the bookers. I’m sure you’ll be placed in an appropriate situation.”
Relief immediately crosses The Timid Tiger’s face. “Thank you.”
The PRIME representatives say their goodbyes and get the hell out of the boardroom. Meanwhile, Vickie rises from her chair and purposefully walks towards her partner. She wraps her arms around him, squeezing him in a bearhug. Either Vickie is completely oblivious to Jonathan-Christopher’s recent panic attack regarding Brandon Youngblood or she’s choosing to ignore it.
“I can’t wait for our love story to start, baby,” she says, placing kisses on her man’s shoulders.
“Nor can I…” Jonathan-Christopher responds, although he doesn’t believe what he’s saying. He finds the match graphic splash of Brandon Youngblood for a second time today.
How could Jonathan-Christopher feel confident when something is telling him he’s already been here? Even worse, the mugshot of The Tower of Babel is horrifying. JCH better be placed in a more “appropriate situation” or God help him.

This was a necessity, right? A few nights in the MGM Grand, officially signing their exclusive PRIME contracts. Jonathan-Christopher and Vickie Hall, tied at the hip, hand-in-hand, walk through the blue and black doors of #1 By Definition only to prove they are, in fact, #1 By Devotion. It is the start of their essential narrative and something they’ve desired for a very long time. Show the world fierce wrestling skills and true emotional vulnerability can co-exist within the same person. For Jonathan-Christopher, it’s the enterprise in front of him. For ALP Vickie, the chance to nurture a big up and coming wrestling giant who will ensure their rightful place at the top of the mountain.
As Jonathan-Christopher lays awake in bed, Vickie sound asleep beside him, he stares into the ceiling once again, like he did the night before and the night before that and the month before that. What looked to be an easy task, win The Vow of Virtue’s inaugural PRIME match has now presented questions. Many questions. First, it is not a one-on-one contest. Jonathan-Christopher was clearly hoping he could receive a simple, concise match with no additional roadblocks whatsoever. Second, the three men in front of Hall present issues. For Larry Tact, a man of mammoth stature. Jacob Mephisto, a reckless veteran hellbent on brainwashing others. And Tapioca Puddings… despite Tapioca not being nearly as physically and psychologically imposing as the others, Vickie felt Tapioca wasn’t the right fit for an opponent due to his…well he’s ugly as shit.
Strangely enough, Tapioca is the greatest problem. Jonathan-Christopher cannot lose to him or the Pudding family. A loss to Tapioca would be devastating… it would catastrophize his ALP. Initially, Jonathan-Christopher had hoped for a simple match against an easy target. Some would say Tapioca could definitely play this role but the more Jonathan-Christopher Hall thinks about it, the more he realizes there may not be any easy target in PRIME.
And my, what has the Forever Man gotten himself into?
The PRIME executives have seen something in Jonathan-Christopher, this is indisputable. Although he will wrestle his first ever match in front of an audience bigger than 100 people, The Timid Tiger knows he has wrestling skills. However, these abilities need to be put to the test. And there are too many variables at play on Friday.
Jonathan-Christopher could feel his heart palpitate, muscles tense and eyes frantically dart around the ceiling. He knows, deep down, he must achieve. It’s not like they can go back. People would remember a loss, especially during his debut. They will push aside the thought of the Hall’s mission statement, to give PRIME an alternative team, who will never crack under the pressure, never be apart and show something wrestling hardly conveys.
True, 100% loyalty to each other.
Jonathan-Christopher’s mind overwhelms with thoughts of failure. Throwing everything at his opponents and losing. Christ, he doesn’t have to be pinned. What a way to go.
Finally, the Vow of Virtue views his partner. She, nestled peacefully into the fetal position, her position of preference and a sign she is comfortable in her surroundings. They have weathered the storm so far, revealing they can start their PRIME journey. The rest, for Jonathan-Christopher anyway, is a massive question mark.
The Forever Man works on his physiological disposition. Knowing what he has to do, the endeavor in front of him, ever so daunting. He has to succeed in his first PRIME match. He absolutely has to. There is no alternative; true love will prevail.
Jonathan-Christopher takes a deep breath and trembles into the night.
With certainty, the Hall’s wouldn’t be able to handle his failure again.
